Coca-Cola accused of greenwashing at COP15

About Nepenthes

What is Nepenthes?

Nepenthes is an environmental organisation working to encourage sustainable use of the world's forests, particularly in­ Denmark and in the rainforests of the tropics.

This is accomplished through projects on the ground in forest areas and through political lobbyism. Much of our work is carried out on a voluntary basis; thus much of our activity is based on the free labour provided by our 60 active members.

What is our objective?

Nepenthes aims to create better conditions for nature and people alike, and therefore our projects are run in close cooperation with indigenous peoples and local communities and in conjunction with other environmental organisations.

Alongside the projects a great deal of our efforts are dedicated to influencing the debate on environmental policy in Denmark. We strive to improve Danish environmental legislation through professional knowledge and the strength of well-founded argumentation.


Our main areas of activity are:
 

  • Preservation of rainforests
  • National Parks in Denmark
  • Environmental labeling of wood (FSC)
  • Development projects
  • Support for indigenous peoples 
  • Protection of natural forests in Denmark
  • Public outreach, lectures and debate
  • Volunteer field stays

How can you help us?

You can support our work in many ways, for example by ensuring any tropical wood furniture you buy is FSC-labelled.

You can also join the organisation as an active member partaking directly in our work however you may be able to help. Or by joining as a supportive member and paying monthly subscription dues to  make this all possible. The cost is only 50 DKK a month. In return you will receive our newsletter Skov&Folk (in Danish) 4 times a year.
